Adopt A Class connects businesses and civic groups with students in underserved schools. By pairing teams with individual classrooms, adult mentors expose the students to a breadth of experiences and training to be job and career ready.
Big Brothers Big Sisters provides high quality 1-to-1 mentoring services to more than 1,000 children and their families on an annual basis across 13 counties in Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana.
The mission of Brothas Inc. mission is to share our life experiences to forge relationships with at-risk youth by showing them love and providing safe, productive options to violence & the streets. We work to restore peace, respect and unity in underserved communities in Cincinnati.
Cincinnati Youth Collaborative empowers young people to overcome barriers and excel in education, career and life. CYC offers a variety of programs to help youth excel, including 1-to-1 mentoring, co-mentoring, group mentoring, and corporate mentoring.

Each Saturday morning, Saturday Hoops strives to help improve our kids’ outlook on life and themselves by inspiring them to try new things and make new friends. We do a variety of creative, instructional, and physical activities meant to stimulate, engage, model cooperation, and most of all, have fun!
SuperSeeds serves schools, parents, youth (ages 13-17) and the juvenile court system in Hamilton and Butler counties. SuperSeeds assists all areas of the educational process through collaboration with members of the community and by implementing an intervention program to save our youth from the school-to-prison pipeline.

In his book, Life Giving Mentors (Growing Leaders, 2009), Tim Elmore defines mentoring as “… a relational experience through which one empowers another…”. Mentors are “… people growers” who help people “… close the gap between potential and performance”.
University of Cincinnati professor Evan Griffin characterizes mentoring as “friendship with a vision”. That is – a mentor provides both ongoing presence in a young person’s life (as would a friend), and encouragement to dream big, and do and become their best.
In short, a mentor is a confidante who makes a simple but powerful commitment to be there in a young person’s life. And - over time - a mentor can be that difference maker who (in concert with others in a young person’s evolving network) encourages bold aspirations, empowers capacity to navigate obstacles, and guides young people towards their highest potentials.

Research convincingly shows that mentoring has positive impacts on relationship building, self-confidence, trust in others, well being, academic performance and so much more. Young people with mentors in their lives are more likely to avoid pitfalls such as drugs, alcohol, bullying, violent behavior and more.
Yet – sadly – most young people do not have a formal mentor in their lives. Let’s be the change. Let’s transform the Cincy region landscape with and for our young people!
