Introducing Mentoring Minute

Wrriten by Tony Aloise

This is the start of Mentoring Minute, a blog for We Mentor Cincy. Let me introduce our title words:

  • Mentoring. It’s about mentoring skills and mentoring programs. Coaching and mentoring are related skills; I will address both.

  • Minute. It will be short, about 250 words. I’ve heard that 250 words is the average number a person can read in one minute. I will not waste your time.

Our goal is simply to encourage learning, growth and action –  because you got an insight. Our primary audience will be volunteer mentors and the non-profit staff leading local mentoring organizations. Many of the blogs will make sense for mentees and the parents of mentees too.

I will be the primary author but will seek others to “take their minute” too.

About the Author

I am passionate about all things mentoring. I believe that “mentoring is the most powerful skillset a human being can possess.” I believe that volunteer mentors, managers, parents and friends become better people when we add new approaches and skills to our everyday relationships. These skills have already changed my life and continue to do so as I interact with many amazing people.

I am equally passionate about the topic of Purpose. This word guides us to know ourselves deeply, to have an intentional life plan and to live to our potential – all important to mentoring.

I am a dad of four amazing adult children, a grandfather of five, a very active volunteer and a retiree.
